Celebrating 20 years in the display business

by Marketing 7/16/2008 10:37:00 AM

Applied Signs and DisplayLast month, we celebrated our 20th anniversary in the display business with a small party at our new showroom in the Clonshaugh area of Dublin. Our company, Applied Signs & Display, is a Nomadic Display distributor based in Dublin, Ireland.

The purpose of the event was three-fold.  Firstly, we welcomed customers, potential customers and suppliers to our new premises. Secondly, we wanted to show off our new Modular Custom Build showroom display, which is totally reusable and customizable. It features fabric, graphic and backlit panels. It also incorporates a lockable room, a canopy, a bar area with seating and plasma screens, as well as other traditional display elements. Finally, we wanted to have a little bit of fun as a ‘thank you’ to our customers, suppliers and staff.

The run up to the event was extremely busy, with invitations to design, print and send, goody bags to fill, and the showroom display to erect and perfect. On top of these tasks, we also had to complete the painting and decorating of the new showroom, which had been put off since our move in January.

On the day itself, preparations started early, with the caterers and band arriving to set up in the early afternoon. Our PR consultant and photographer arrived around lunchtime, and soon after that, customers, friends, suppliers and other guests started to come through the doors at a fairly hectic pace.

At the party, people were free to relax with a glass of wine, or to take a tour of the building, or to have a giggle at our display of old photos, ranging from staff members in their bell-bottoms to the first ‘button and band’ pop up displays. Company owners, Colette and Larry, were presented with flowers and a John Rocha Waterford crystal vase by the management. Our real ‘hardcore’ customers and staff members continued the party late into the night.

To provide extra entertainment at the event, caricature Artist Mark Heng had people queuing up for a ‘flattering’ caricature drawing to take home.  Last year’s Miss Ireland, Blathnaid McKenna, also joined us at the party.

It was truly a night of fun and celebration. We would like to thank everyone who came and made it such a special day for us!

EXHIB-IT! presents a Nomadic display to a shelter helping teen moms

by Marketing 7/2/2008 9:36:00 AM

Life Options AcademyWe recently moved into a 9,000 square foot building only a couple of blocks from our old location.  We simply outgrew our accommodations, as we seem to do every three to five years.  For this Grand Opening, we wanted to do something special. Instead of giving our usual door prize display to an unsuspecting lucky attendee, we presented a nonprofit organization, Life Options Academy, with a new six-foot Sirius tabletop display manufactured by Nomadic Display valued at $1,200.  The presentation took place after speeches given by two State Senators who came to show their support of what EXHIB-IT! is doing to help the New Mexico business community.

Life Options Academy (LOA), a 501c3 corporation, helps New Mexico teen moms transform their lives and break the cycle of poverty and abuse that teen parenting perpetuates. Now in its fourth year of operation, the organization operates in a newly purchased private home located in a quiet and safe neighborhood.  The home provides a safe haven for young girls to begin rebuilding their lives with love and support.

LOAWe selected Life Options Academy to receive what we titled, The Empowering Exhibitor’s Display, because the organization is very forward thinking.  Life Options Academy and its staff offer solutions through empowering young girls and giving them the tools they need to become successful mothers and independent women.

Life Options Academy CEO, Jane Dixon, accepted the display before 175 members of the business community.  She explained to the onlookers, “Our community needs to know about the Academy to both support and utilize resources this organization provides.  Having this top-of-the-line Nomadic display will help Life Options Academy get more hands-on visibility at trade shows and events. Thank you, Nomadic Display and EXHIB-IT! for your help in bringing this organization’s greatest assets to light.”

Before the end of the evening, we welcomed 400 attendees at our Grand Open House between 5 pm and 8 pm.  We welcomed guest speakers from four political offices and had ribbon cuttings conducted by three chambers of commerce.  Many local business and non-profit organizations were present to take advantage of the networking opportunity provided by such high attendance.  Our event was such a success that we intend to hold another networking event next year of this size and magnitude.

A green tale of two fabrics, a logo and a catalog

by Marketing 6/4/2008 5:51:00 AM

Eco-fiIn keeping with the trade show communities push for “green” initiatives we are pleased to announce that Nomadic has recently taken steps towards reducing carbon footprints with a more eco-friendly fabric. In April, we launched our new Eco-Fi™ fabric, which contains polyester derived from 100% certified, post-consumer plastic bottles. Right now, we’re offering them in two colors. However, we’re looking at expanding that fabric’s color range in the next few months.

If you haven’t heard about Eco-fi yet, I encourage you to ask your friendly Nomadic Display Consultant to show you samples of the fabric. And if you decide to purchase a 10-foot Eco-fi fabric pop up display, you will help keep 80 bottles (which take 700 years to decompose – yikes!) out of the landfill.

We have also taken steps to start printing all of our collateral material including our company Product catalog and any mailings on FSC approved paper. FSC (The Forest Stewardship Council) is an international, independent, not-for-profit organization that promotes paper made of pulp harvested from responsibly managed forests. So the next time you receive one of our printed pieces be sure to take note of the FSC certified logo.

In the coming months, I hope to provide you with additional updates as Nomadic fulfills its commitment to a greener and cleaner earth.  By the way, did you know that there’s an upcoming World Environment Day of June 5th spearheaded by the United Nations Environment Programme?

On becoming one of the 40 under Forty awardees

by Marketing 5/14/2008 9:25:00 AM
Audrey Anderson

I have been recently named as one of Albuquerque’s 40 Under Forty for 2008. This is an award given by the New Mexico Business Weekly to forty people under the age of forty for their achievements in business. It is hard to believe that a year ago, I was working in the film and television industry doing everything from acting to stunt work.

Today at age 26, I am a minority owner of EXHIB-IT! Tradeshow Marketing Experts with CEO, DJ Heckes. It didn’t take long. During my year as the Marketing Director, I quickly fell in love with the trade show industry as a whole. Coming from the film industry, I definitely understand the importance of being able to present a great face and fantastic image on demand. Successful companies, just like successful actors, are the ones who do these things consistently and thus, build a following for their unmistakable brand.

I want to thank Nomadic for motivating me to win the 40 Under Forty. I credit Nomadic for my recently praised work performance. The high standard the company sets for its distributors has become a challenge that I eventually embraced.

Because we sell the best products on the market, most of our clients expect to get the best return on their investment when they go to a show with their top-of-the-line display. Of course, we know that they have to do a little more than sit at their booth and wait for attendees to come in waves, begging to do business.

Clients need to be educated on how to make their display materials work for them. To show them how tradeshow marketing can really work, I turned our full service exhibit house into an extra full service exhibit house where we offer training and education. We try to ensure that our clients, who made the wise choice to buy the best, get the best results at their shows.

Let’s face it; we want to make sure they are so successful that they might actually have to use that lifetime warranty on hardware!

The results have been remarkable. Now our clients have all the tools to succeed at trade show marketing, armed with a great display and thorough knowledge about the industry. My 40 Under Forty Award was a result of my effort to mirror the standard of quality and effectiveness that Nomadic sets every day.

An International Emergency - Nomadic's LifeLine Service saves the show

by Marketing 5/7/2008 8:15:00 AM

TigenixWhen TiGenix, a Belgium-based biomedical company, called Nomadic's LifeLine Service on April 24 at 8:30 in the morning, their tradeshow in Washington DC had already started.  Their freight company had lost their 10' pop-up booth.  Meanwhile, Nomadic's Belgium Distributor Art & Press Dimensions already called me directly and asked for a miracle.  By 10:30 AM, Nomadic received the artwork for graphics via FTP upload and by 2:00 PM the same day, I had set up a pop-up display with graphics in Washington DC.

Personally, it was very rewarding to see a client astonished about our service. But most of all, I enjoyed the words of support, interest and comments by otheTigenixr exhibitors in the show—  "My exhibit house would not do that for me" and  "Your set-up only took 5 minutes while ours took hours.”

I am proud of the people at Nomadic who made our exceptional service once more a reality.   We come to work because of the feedback from clients like TiGenix.

As Sven Maenhout, International Marketing Director at TiGenix, wrote after the show:  “When we were thinking about which company to order our pop-up booth from, one of the deciding factors for us was the International Network and the LifeLine Service from Nomadic.    Now that we have had first-hand experience with the high level of quality of emergency support, I can assure you that in the future, these decisions will be very easy to make...  Not only were we highly impressed by the rapid turnaround and support offered, but also with the high quality of printed graphics, which truly convinced us of the professionalism of Nomadic.”
