A Taste of Fall - “Yummy Pumpkin Cake” Recipe

by Marketing 10/24/2007 4:46:00 AM

pumpkinsI can’t help but get smitten with fall—amazing weather, colorful trees, trick or treats and of course, pumpkins!

To pay tribute to that great orange vegetable and this season’s most popular ornament, I am sharing with you a recipe from Nomadic’s “Family Recipes” book for you to try in your own home. It’s a yummy pumpkin cake recipe submitted by Lynn Reves, our VP for Customer and Design Services. Here it is:

Ingredients:

  • 1 box Duncan Hines Yellow Cake Mix
  • 4 Eggs
  • ¾ cup Sugar
  • 1 can Libby’s Pumpkin (16 oz.)
  • ¼ cup Water
  • ½ cup Wesson oil
  • 1 ½ tsp. Cinnamon
  • ½ tsp. Nutmeg
Mix all the ingredients.

Bake in tub pan for 1 hour at 350°. Ice with cream cheese frosting.

Happy baking!

(This recipe is in memory of Janet Martin, a departed dear friend of Lynn’s family, whose love for baking still lives on.)

A LifeLine Story 2

by Marketing 10/17/2007 5:09:00 AM
HeadgearI am continually amazed at the emergency situations that come about for our customers on the trade show floor and the many ways Nomadic’s LifeLine Service can assist in a dire time of need.

Imagine this - you are on the show floor on a Sunday afternoon, tired from your late flight into Denver the night before. You arrive at your booth only to discover that the exhibit system appears to be missing parts. Moreover, you are not even familiar enough with this system to know exactly what is missing or how to begin the set-up! You scramble around searching for any assistance on the show floor… perhaps your neighboring exhibitor can help? With little other recourse, you happen to notice a toll-free phone number on one of your Nomadic’s LifeLine ServiceRED cases. Should you give it a ring? Why not? You’ve got nothing else to lose at this point and the show begins tomorrow…

Sound familiar? If it doesn’t, consider yourself lucky. We recently had a customer call from the National Recycling Convention in Denver in which their situation was eerily similar to the one outlined above. Wise, our LifeLine Guardian on-call, contacted one of our Authorized Nomadic Distributors in Denver to see if they could assist. Valerie at ExhibitQuest was eager to help and contacted the customer right away. The twist to this story is that while the customer had Nomadic red cases (where the LifeLine phone number was obtained), the product inside the casing was a competitor’s brand!

By all accounts, this LifeLine story could have had an unhappy ending, as we are unable to provide parts and pieces for the other company’s products. But what kind of story would that be? ExhibitQuest was indeed able to help by renting a Nomadic 10’ system to the customer to work with their existing header components, which were the only salvageable hardware shipped to the show. The rest is history!

Once again our LifeLine Service was able to help a customer in need. No one would have ever guessed that we could assist when the product in question isn’t even ours. Value can be measured in many ways and in this situation, the value of having a Nomadic red case, which helped to save someone’s show!

Going large for less

Today, experienced exhibitors realize they can get a trendy custom look in their custom rental solution. This is true for small and large displays. Not only is rental a smart way to change your exhibit look and message, it can also amount to a significant cost saving measure.

One of these companies who has embraced the benefits of custom exhibit rentals is Champion Ways, a leading software company to the Martial Arts industry. Our rentals division in Las Vegas recently worked with Champions Marketing team to transform their prime 20'x40' space at the Martial Arts Expo 2007 into a dramatic venue to showcase their products and services.

Strategically located at the entrance of the Expo, Champion Ways worked with our Nomadic Rental Consultants to stretch their budget and develop a bold, eye-catching rental solution. From configuration to execution, Nomadic’s solution was a big hit with Champions Way.

Display1_2In the end, Champions Way spent less than $30,000 for the rental, audio-visual equipment, delivery, and labor. So, who says you can’t make a bold statement, in an island space for less than $30k? Well, this example shows that you definitely can.

Check some of our most popular rental solutions at Nomadic Rentals! You might just find the look and function you’ve been looking for—for much less than you expect.

What it takes to be a head turner

by Marketing 10/5/2007 5:47:00 AM

Zen_2If you’re looking to find out the latest beauty secrets, I am telling you right now—your search engine led you to the wrong site. But if you’re an exhibitor who just came back from an event wondering why attendees overlooked your presence at the show floor, read on.

Whether, it’s two, three or five seconds-- the point is, it takes a small fraction of a minute to attract attendees to your booth. And your booth graphics plays a major role in drawing crowds to your booth or driving them to your competitor’s exhibit space.

So here are a few condensed tips that will help you catch the eyes of your target attendees:

  1. Make graphic images life-size for the greatest impact. Ensure your graphics can be viewed at a distance of 5 to 15 feet or more.
  2. Consider a variety of graphic solutions available to convey your message including front and backlit photographs, digitally printed images, murals or detachable signage.
  3. Attract more attention by using photographs instead of illustrations or other artwork. Photographs attract the eye first, are more believable and better remembered.
  4. Pull in your audience with graphics coupled with other effects. Attract attention with movement. Consider adding an LED message sign to your display or using 3-D imaging.
  5. Limit the total amount of copy as people rarely spend time reading a mass of type on a graphic panel.
For an in-depth guide to great graphics, download our white paper, “All Eyes on You: Graphics that Work.”
